MUKERJI, Dr Dev
Dr Devdas Mukerji was a GP in Ipswich for 30 years and then worked at Ipswich Hospital, but on retirement took up sculpture as a hobby. Working with Miles Robinson, he made a full-size sculpture of a bull in cold-cast bronze. He presented the work to Ipswich Corporation in 2006, and for two years it stood in Civic Drive, near the New Wolsey Theatre. Dr Dev Mukerji died at Ipswich Hospital on 1 November 2021. His wife Joan Margaret née Hodgson, whom he married in 1968 had died on 26 September six weeks before and they left two children Onitha Jane [Jarrold] and Richard John.
